Taizhou Xinghua Science and Technology Cultivates New Shallot Varieties

A new variety of chives from the Xinghua City Vegetable Science Research Institute and the agricultural scientific and technical personnel of Xinghua Tiandi Agricultural Science and Technology Co., Ltd., Xing Cong 21, passed the certification of the Taizhou Crop Variety Certification Group.

Xing Cong 21 is a national geographical and environmental labeling product, which is a local specialty cultivar Xinghua Shallot. It is selected by agricultural science and technology personnel through a single strain system and has been selected for 6 years. The species has good cold resistance and heat resistance, and has low requirements for light intensity. The suitable temperature for growth is 12-23°C. Under the high temperature and strong light above 25°C, the plants become shorter and the leaf tube becomes thinner, -5°C. The following growth slows down and can be planted throughout the year. The spring and autumn seasons grow fast, and the average yield per mu is 3500-4000 kg. Compared with the original Xinghua scallion, it showed better heat resistance and higher yield. After production trials of onions and autumn onions, the average yield was 2,254 kg and 4,288 kg respectively, which was 412 kg and 854 respectively higher than that of Xinghua Scallion. kg. The breeding and promotion of this variety will effectively enhance the city's balanced supply of onions all year round, increase planting efficiency, and increase the market competitiveness of dehydrated chives.
