AnalogicTech Introduces Three Output Charge Pump Regulators

Advanced Analogic (AnalogicTech) recently introduced a three-output charge pump regulator - the AAT2820 for battery-powered portable products. To meet the market demand for TFT LCDs and CCD image sensors , this power management device provides three adjustable output voltages for opening the gate drive bias (Vpos), closing the gate voltage bias (Vneg) and logic voltage.
Both the Von and Voff output voltages use an external diode and a capacitor multiplier to regulate the output. Because the AAT2820 does not use high inductance, it is possible to design ultra-thin products with a height of only 0.8mm.

The AAT2820's switching frequency is 1MHz, allowing designers to use ultra-small external capacitors. It incorporates a soft-start circuit that prevents the device from being damaged by oversized inrush current during startup. Its low-power shutdown feature disconnects the load from Vin, reducing quiescent current to less than 0.1μA. Its thermal protection circuit turns off all charge pumps when the die temperature exceeds a preset value.
